Brakes for snowboards

Bit of a dubious one here...

A new brake design for snowboards could minimise the dangers of losing your board on the mountain
Australian company FSU Manufacturing Pty ltd have manufactured a new 'snowboard brake' that will stop runaway boards on the mountain.

The Universal Snowboard Brake is a pin device that clips down beneath the base of the board automatically when you release your boot from your binding. It then acts as a brake should you board start to slide down the hill.

The brake was thought up by a man who suffered an injury at the hands of a tearaway board, which damaged his leg badly. Due to this he invented the brake device to minimise the danger.

The device has been tested in all conditions, from hard packed snow to powder, and was allegedly succesful on all snow packs. There is a longer pin design that can be used in the powder.

The downside to the invention is that when you put your feet back into your board bindings, you have to manually put the pin back in.

With the constant growth and improvement in safety devices in the mountains, this design could prove to fill a gap in the market.
