Coronet Peak opens today

Queenstown's Coronet Peak has launched the 2007 New Zealand snow season today (Monday, June 11) with a social opening day and skiing and riding on the main M1 and Big Easy trails and beginner area.

Ski area manager Hamish McCrostie said a recent polar blast had kept temperatures low enough to allow snowmaking machines to work at capacity output. “The snowmaking has produced sufficient cover across the main M1 and Big Easy trails and we’re sure people will enjoy some good turns. We are simply looking forward to getting on our boards for the season.”
